Find your dream job: A how-to guide
Professional fulfillment: find the job that suits you
Knowing what your dream job is, the result of a long and complex process that unfortunately not all of us manage to achieve. Often, we fail to find a job that we like or that matches our skills, and we end up becoming demotivated.
However, finding the ideal position is possible when you know the right strategies. Whether you want to change jobs, start a new career, or land your first job after graduating, we offer some tips to help you clearly define your professional and personal goals.
Set a goal
Many people settle for a job related to their field of study and professional experience, but in reality, to feel truly fulfilled in your work, you need to find a position that matches your tastes and expectations. And to do this, you must first clearly determine what you are looking for and what your ambitions are.
Money does not buy happiness and is not enough to make a job perfect. So do not focus solely on the salary. Instead, look for a sector that you like, with interesting and motivating tasks and missions, and perhaps a role that you enjoy so much that it doesn't even feel like work!
Take the time to think: what is your goal? Working for a particular company? Having the opportunity to progress in your career? A leadership position? What really motivates you in your work?

When you love your sector, but not your job
If you think your job does not meet or no longer meets some of your expectations, look for ways to improve your situation.
Can you make changes to your routine or work environment, or should you change jobs? Sometimes, a simple change in routine or internal mobility can lead to a position that better matches your interests.
A job change is often scary, which is why most of the time, we prefer to stay in our place to avoid facing the anxiety caused by a change. Therefore, do not quit your current job right away (unless you hate it), because you may have the opportunity to improve it and maintain some stability.
If you are not sure how to change your work routine, talk to your manager about what you would like to improve. Specify what would interest you more and what you could do to make your work more enjoyable and productive. Your manager will then know whether to assign you other tasks or if it is better for you to change positions within the company.
What are your strengths?
The perfect job (if it exists!) is the one you love to do. And you generally love to do what you are good at.
What tasks do you enjoy the most in your work? Which ones do you think you are good at? What would you like to do? Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses: leading a team, learning new things, being creative, establishing social relationships… Note all your skills and qualities as well as your difficulties.
Know how and where to look to be on the lookout for opportunities
Throughout your search, make sure to stay objective and keep your feet on the ground. Look for professional opportunities that exist in the sector that interests you, the type of job you would like to have, and the experience and skills required to perform the desired functions.
Look for competing companies in the sector that might be interested in your CV - are there only a few companies, several multinationals, or is it a growing sector where new companies are continuously emerging? This type of information will help you find out if you are likely to progress in your job and acquire new skills, or if you risk stagnating professionally.
Finally, know that to find the ideal job, you must consider various factors, both internal and external. The market situation is an important factor to consider, but you must first be sure of your personal and professional goals.
Remember: you don't hate Mondays, it is your job that you do not like. And if you do not like it, why not change it?
